During the constructive meeting with the president of
the Federation of Hungarian Jewish Communities (Mazsihisz) and the national
chief rabbi, minister Moshe Arbel expressed his interest in the daily life of
the Hungarian Jewish community, including the tasks and developments Mazsihisz
is facing. He also welcomed that dr. Andor Grósz and the delegation of
Mazsihisz made a successful official visit to Israel in the past few days.

Speaking about the life of the Hungarian Jewish
community, dr. Andor Grósz told the minister that the Mazsihisz is the largest
Jewish denomination in our country, and pointed out that after the seventh of
October, the leaders of the various Jewish denominations agreed to put aside
the existing differences of opinion for the duration of the ongoing war against
Hamas. Moshe Arbel suggested that running the Jewish cemeteries in Hungary
could be a common cause for the denominations. Reflecting on this, Chief Rabbi
Róbert Frölich underlined that Mazsihisz has been maintaining some 1,500
cemeteries in the country, and as in the past, it intends to maintain these
facilities under its own authority in the future as well.

At the meeting, the president of Mazsihisz informed
the Minister of the Interior about the support the Federation provided to our
Israeli brothers after October 7th. He added that he personally interpreted the
solidarity and compassion of Hungarian Jews in Israel to several key political
leaders and also to President Isaac Herzog.
